IOC Group of Experts
on Ocean Literacy

The Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) convenes a global Group of Experts on Ocean Literacy. The Group of Experts launched in 2023 and currently has 36 members, including COLC’s Executive Director, Diz Glithero.

The Group’s mandate is to guide the implementation of the new IOC Ocean Literacy Plan of Action (2026-2030). The aim is to scale up global efforts in ocean education and broader public engagement, working in collaboration with the IOC’s Group of Experts on Capacity Development.
